This image appears first on the website gallery and seems to be a universal favourite. The story behind it is not as it seems.
The image is designed to convery the sense of handmade breadmaking and the skill and care of the baker.
Although it was an artisan bakery the bakery itself was a modern stainless steel affair which of course is right and proper for hygiene reasons. For the shot we actually used part of the counter of an old sweet shop next door. A few carefully placed props and some post production work was then all that was necessary to create the final image.
The picture was shot to be used as a front cover for a cookbook on baking, whose proceeds went to a local hospice and we were pleased to waive our fee for the work.
